UNIT OVERVIEW:

This is a mini-unit that will run for only TWO weeks.

You will ANALYSE information presented to you and QUESTION its scientific content for validity.

Topics you will explore include:
  • The Greenhouse Effect
    • greenhouse gases
    • possible effects of greenhouse gas emission
    • everyday usage of greenhouse gases in our homes
  • Climate change
    • differing viewpoints towards climate change
    • possible causes and effects of climate change
    • the Kyoto protocol
  • Carbon cycle
    • movement of carbon on and around Earth
These three areas of study interlink and allow greater understanding of this complicated and highly controversial issue.



ASSESSMENT:


All students will submit a double-page of information relevant to the three topics.
